In a world of well-established ride-hailing giants,

what makes this app worth a second look?

UX/UI Design | Redesign | Figma

Facedrive offers a transportation network that is inherently and actively committed to social responsibility.

01. Problems

My primary responsibility was to redesign the existing mobile app interface to improve usability and accessibility, enhancing the overall user experience.

Here are the main pain points within the app:

02. Approaches

Considered an intuitive design that aligns with familiar patterns used by apps like Uber and Lyft, ensuring a user-friendly experience that avoids confusion and allows users to navigate the app with ease.

To capture attention in a crowded market, the app must offer something users can’t find elsewhere and give them a reason to keep coming back.

As shown in the table, rideshare apps share common core functionalities. Keeping the design structure familiar helps prevent user confusion when switching to a new platform.

03. Solutions

03-1. Redesigning the previous interface

03-2. Highlighting the standout feature

Facedrive distinguished itself by offering a carbon-offsetting model, where the estimated CO₂ emissions from each ride are calculated, and an equivalent contribution is made to local tree-planting initiatives through the Toronto Parks and Tree Foundation.

Track and display the user’s positive impact on the environment.

  • Encouraging users with tangible proof of their efforts to help the environment.

  • Raising environmental awareness among users who may not usually be conscious of eco-friendly practices.

04. Closing Thoughts

Entering the rideshare market is no easy task, especially with dominant players like Uber and Lyft already holding significant market share. To compete in such a saturated space, a new app must offer something distinctly different. This begins with a thorough analysis of similarities and differences between existing platforms to identify gaps and opportunities.

With global awareness of environmental issues on the rise, Facedrive strategically positioned itself by integrating sustainability into its core offering. The app not only provides convenient transportation but also raises environmental consciousness and gives users a sense of pride in making eco-friendly choices. This unique feature sets Facedrive apart from mainstream competitors.

In addition to its environmental focus, continuous innovation based on user needs is essential. Offering a more diverse and personalized ride experience that reflects specific lifestyles, communities, or values can be a powerful way to differentiate and thrive in a highly competitive market.
